Fostering specialties such as aqua nutrition and feed, aquaculture breeding, management and sustainable resource conservation. Industry knowledge and application skills enable students to have the ability to start a business or service-related industry.
Cultivate high-level talents with aquaculture-related R&D and application. international aquaculture talents with innovative practical applications and independent technological research and development capabilities.
Direction of Future Development of the Department
Short-term：
To establish the internship sites of practical teaching and to promote the academic and practical teaching collaborations with off-campus public and private institutions.
Mid-term：
To strengthen industry-academia cooperation to support practical teaching and to put into off-campus internships at home and abroad to improve teaching quality and students’ international outlook; to develop aquaculture preventive medicine and relevant aquaculture health products; to promote green and sustainable aquaculture and production technologies.
Long-term：
To apply biotechnologies to feeds and genetic breeding to cultivate high-quality aquatic seedlings and ornamental aquatic organisms.
Future Employment
The employment fields of graduates from the Department include：
Public agencies and corporate bodies: Fisheries Agency, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and relevant departments, Fisheries Research Institute, aquaculture-related departments of local governments, fishermen’s associations in various districts, and aquaculture-related.
First：
To serves teachers: To serve as teachers in aquaculture-related departments (graduate institutes) of colleges and universities, maritime affairs and aquaculture vocational schools, or other elementary and junior high schools.
Second：
Research Assistant: To service as Research Assistant in research institutions, such as Academia Sinica and various colleges and universities.
Third：
To starting own business: Ornamental aquatic organism breeding farm, edible aquatic organism breeding farm, and aquatic product trade.
